Most people in Minnesota go “up north” to their cabins, not me. This weekend marks the 9 year in a row a group of my friends and I have gone down to the southwestern portion of the state near Windom, Minnesota for a weekend at my cabin.
It’s not your typical cabin with lakes, boats and beach front property. We have ~150 acres (+/- a few depending on the river level) that are half wooded and half natural prairie (which we’ve reclaimed from land we used to rent out to a local farmer).
Even though the numbers have dwindled a bit from a high attendance of about 30 a few years ago, this weekend looks to be a great time with some very good friends. It even appears the weather is going to cooperate. Oh and if you’re looking for something to do this weekend, come on down.

Good stuff. I’ve been spending a fair amount of time down there for work recently, doing conservation easement inspections. Minnesota is a beautiful state.
